25 Brush strokes

The goal of this artwork was to paint it in 25 brush strokes. I had to really let loose for this project. I am a perfectionist and this is definitely the opposite of what i would do on my own. However, once i got an open mind, I was able to complete my goal. I had to make sure i mixed up all of my colors before i started painting because with a limited number of strokes, this artwork was going to be done relatively fast. The most difficult thing was finding the self control to not pull my brush up too soon. In order to meet this challenge, i had to make sure i had a lot of paint on my brush. Also, i needed to be aware of how i was holding my brush. Mr. Gaudreau  showed me how to properly hold my brush to maximize the different ways i could twist it around without picking it up off from the paper. My painting really works with the white and light blue highlights i added. From this painting i learned that art can be simple and still really look nice. Katie Levey did her 25 strokes painting the same composition as her "Dont Touch the Edges" painting and i think the contrast of the two worked nicely. If i had a do-over of this project i think i would try to smooth out the shadow of my pool ball because the shadow looks like a few triangles. I think the best part of my project is the different shades of green i was able to capture in the small circle in my pool ball, it added a sense of realism to this rather abstract artwork.
